Obon Festival
It’s just a month away when our last Fundraiser will be here. We are always looking for volunteers to help at our Obon Festival. It is such a HUGE event that we are asking all members to come out and help make this a successful fundraiser. This money helps in many ways besides paying the bills: undertaking repairs, maintenance and upkeep of the grounds that we all enjoy seeing. Please contact the church and one of us will forward your name to the committee chairperson who will contact you. Any time you have will be greatly appreciaed.
Raffle and Dinner tickets are ready. Please come to service or call for other arrangements for pick up
White Elephant Booth
If you have any Japanese items to donate to the White Elephant Booth, please start bringing them to the church from July 15th. The items should be identified with your name and marked “White Elephant Booth.” If you are unable to bring them to church or are interested in helping sort, pack or price items, please contact us by phone or email.
Shimamoto House
Our project was to remodel the bathroom which has not been touched since it was built by Mr. Shimamoto back in the 70’s. The project was an-other big expense for the church. HURRAH! It is now completed. I would like to “Thank” Gary Hongo for taking care of this project.

I cannot believe that the first half of 2019 is over and we are starting the second half! I honestly believe that the older I get, the faster time flies!
The BWA is conducting fundraisers in July and August to help defray the costs of the World Buddhist Wom-en’s Convention on August 30 to September 1 in San Francisco. I have mentioned this event many times and hope there are some of you who are still considering attending this wonderful event. Currently we have 8 members, spouses and Rev. Nakano registered to attend.
I am still looking for ideas for the BWA craft booth for our Obon Festival. I am working on a few items and there are a few members making crafts but we need more items to sell in our booth. I am also looking for helpers to work in the booth a few hours between noon and 6:00 p.m. to relieve the workers (myself and my daughter-in-law). Please call the church if you can help or if you have any questions. It will be much appreciated!.
