Hooray!! The BWA Tri-Counties Seminar actually happened
on Sunday, April 23. It was a challenge to find a date that
was suitable for all 4 of the churches but we did it! There were
50 people in attendance from the Buddhist Church of Santa
Barbara, Oxnard Buddhist Temple, Guadalupe Buddhist Church
and SLO Buddhist Church. It appeared that everyone enjoyed
themselves and it was great to see so many people greeting old
friends and making new ones. The speakers were Denise Gimbel
and Teresa Fernandez from French Medical Center who gave very
informative talks about heart health for women. They brought
brochures and gifts that were appreciated by all. Thank you to the
SLOBWA who provided wonderful treats like baked and steamed
manju, fresh fruits, cream puffs, finger jello, chex treats and chips.
Thank you also to the ladies who provided the beautiful decorations
greeting our guests and in the social hall. Thank you to Sylvia
Bridge who coordinated the bead bracelet craft. Everyone enjoyed
having the beautiful bracelets as a souvenir of the day. We are fortunate to have such artistic and creative ladies in our BWA and I am very appreciative of their help whenever I need it. Thank you to all for making the seminar such a wonderful success!
SLOBC’s next big event is the annual Golf Tournament being held on May 20 at Cypress Ridge Golf Course and the Hayashi Farm. BWA will be helping at the golf course with registration and gift bags and at the Hayashi Farm with the BBQ dinner. This is one of the big fundraisers for SLOBC and we need help from our members to make it another successful event. Please let any Board member or me know if you can help - it will be greatly appreciated.
